Filming a major movie means a long and grievous casting for the leading roles. The right casting for the main characters is always a painful process for the bosses of the studios, especially when we talk about adaptations. Choosing the right actor for the movie sometimes associated with the future commercial success of the whole movie or movie franchise. People always have a particular image in their minds and if the actor doesn’t fit in well enough – be ready a movie might become a disaster. For obvious reasons, we’ve always had several actors trying to get the leading roles. Here’s the list of the 10 famous movie roles almost played by other actors.
John Krasinski – Captain America
Who do you have in mind when we speak about Captain America? The answer is obvious since Chris Evans looked so organic and natural in this role that it’s unbelievable we could have had John Krasinski wearing blue star-stadded suit, helmet and the famous Captain America’s red and white shield.
Jennifer Lawrence – Bella Swan
Long before she became ultra-famous, Jennifer Lawrence auditioned to play Bella Swan in Twilight. Despite of the the fact Kristen Stewart was propelled into Hollywood’s stardom by playing in this movie franchise, it’s obvious Jennifer Lawrence’s career would be doomed if she had a chance to play in The Twilight. We only judge by the movies she’s starred in since The Twilight came out.
Henry Cavill – Edward Cullen
Well, now imagine Superman in a role of dreamy and sparkling vampire being in love with a moody human girl. Imagined? It was Henry Cavill who was actually Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s first choice to play Edward Cullen. It’s really hard to imagine, but we guess he would have been truly one good-looking vampire!
Britney Spears – Allie Hamilton
The Notebook for sure is one of our favorites. Can you imagine Britney Spears playing the leading role instead of Rachel McAdams? This is the case we can’t. Britney had an audition for the role and almost had a chance to try what it would feel like to be with Ryan Gosling in a screen test. The Notebook could be so much different if the things happened like that.
Saoirse Ronan – Rey
The latest Star Wars movies are rather contraversial, according to the fans’ and public opinion, but in our opinion we can all agree that Rey, played and portrayed by Daisy Ridley, looked pretty convincing, whether you may or may not like the last movies. Not long ago it turned out magnificent Saoirse Ronan also wanted to have a role in the film. It’s really hard to imagine a period-drama acctress playing this role, but we are sure it could have been good!
Scarlett Johansson – Judy Shepherd
If you don’t remember the 90’s top of the charts and an absolutely hit movie Jumanji starring Kirsten Dunst, then you probably was born in the 2000’s. It turns out Scarlett Johansson also had an audition for the role of Judy Shepherd! We are glad her career didn’t suffer in any way without starring in Jumanji.
Liam Hemsworth – Thor
Chris Hemsworth is our most hotly favourite Scandinavian God Thor in the whole world, but the role could have just as easily gone to his brother, Liam. We’re not joking! Film’s producers decided to see Chris instead of Liam in the upcoming Thor series, but the choice wasn’t so easy. But we’re sure Liam would’ve been really increadible Thor, too.
Emma Watson – Mia
What do you think when somebody asking you to guess one of the coolest musicals with one of the best romantic storylines ever created? Yes, La La Land. The movie would be entirely different without chemistry of love between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Emma Watson was supposed to be seen in a movie, but wasn’t because of her hard work filming for Beauty and the Beast.
Matthew McConaughey – Jack
We hope you don’t find that truth too discom
forting. Back in the days when Matthew McConaughey was to be seen mostly in drama and romcoms, he had an audition for the role of Jack in Titanic. Fun fact: he didn’t doubt it for a second he’d get the role. But in reality the role was given to Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie, no doubt, would have looked totally different with Matthew as a leading man. Question is: would it still turn into legendary romantic drama we all passionate about and love today? Nobody really knows.
Will Smith – Neo
This is one of the most impossible things to believe in. We guess, nobody can imagine what the legendary sci-fi saga would have look like without Keanu Reeves as a leading man. Bosses have hit the bull’s eye with Keanu as Neo. Truth is Will Smith, who was a solid figure in the 90’s already, was invited to take a part in the upcoming trilogy. Will has changed his mind and turned down the role to star in Wild Wild West. Hopefully, both of the movies really suited their actors.
