Coyote Ugly Turns 20 This Year – What Are The Producers Up To?
If you were born in the nineties and earlier, then you should definitely remember the film about a girl who left her native New York in the early 2000s in pursuit of a dream to become a musician. The girl ends up in a bar called Coyote Ugly, which is full of celebrities of all stripes, including supermodels (Tyra Banks, aha) who work there as bartenders. Well, did you remember this movie? Would you believe that 20 years have passed since the release of the film, and most of those who watched it as teenagers already have a family, children and have built a career. To be honest, we refuse to believe it ourselves, but on the occasion of the anniversary of the release of this film, we would like to plunge into that atmosphere again and tell you about the actors who played the main roles and how they’re doing now.
1. Piper Perabo – Violet Sanford
Piper played the lead role in this movie. This is the girl who left her home in new Jersey, put everything on the line, and went to new York to fulfill her dreams. Speaking of the career of this beautiful lady, we can assume that it was successful. Piper has played more than one key role in major films, it was her we could see on the screens solo dazzling Hugh Jackman and the inimitable Christian bale in the film “The Prestige”. She also played a significant role in the movie “Looper”, and recently we could see her as an actress in a TV Show Penny Dreadful: City of Angels where she played Linda Craft.
2. John Goodman – Bill Sanford
This person needs no introduction, however, if you have somehow not heard of this actor, then… We are talking about the incredible John Goodman, who played the role of Piper’s father in the film. As befits a real father who cares about the welfare of his daughter, John embodied on the screen the image of a man who hardly dares to let his beloved daughter go on a free voyage. However, after weighing all the pros and cons, this brilliant man agrees that if his daughter believes that her decision is correct, then it should remain so.
The career of John Goodman (not to be confused with Saul Goodman) is a prime example of the fact that a person should never stop there. John took part in dozens of projects, giving us a whole range of characters of all stripes, but in this article we wanted to mention his incredible role in the film, which later became a cult. It’s about the Big Lebowski. Probably, no fan of movies missed this masterpiece. And do not forget that it is his voice that we hear in everyone’s favorite cartoon Monsters Inc.
3. Tyra Banks – Zoe
At the present time, few people have not heard of the dazzling Tyra Banks, but few people know that at the time when she played one of the roles in the film, she was already a significant figure on TV screens. This woman was always full of vital energy, brilliant wit, distinguished by incredible beauty and a desire to be better with every project in which she appeared.
Few people have not heard of a show called America’s Next Top Model, and even more people watched a show called The Tyra Banks Show. The last show was so meticulously filmed that it allowed Tyra to take two daytime Emmys for it. At the moment, Tyra is preparing to become a co-producer in another popular American show called Dancing With The Stars, which means that the already popular show will shine twice as brightly. Tyra always answered positively to all questions from interviewers about the Coyote Ugly. Despite many years, tyra still wants to gather all the actors under one roof and launch a remake in the project. The nuance is that to do this, you need to get the rights. Or negotiate with the person who has these rights.
4. Izabella Miko – Cammie
Not many people in life are as lucky as the actress named Izabella Miko. The very first Hollywood work of this actress just became a role in the film Coyote Ugly. At the time when she started shooting, Elizabeth was not yet wi dely known to the world, and was an ordinary Polish actress. Nevertheless, participation in such a significant project opened the doors of opportunities and prospects for her. Since then, Elizabeth has appeared in a variety of films, preferring those whose main theme was dancing. You probably have seen her in Step Up: All In, Love and Dance, Save The Last Dance 2 and in some other dance movies. She also played the role of the goddess Athena in a film called Clash Of The Titans.
5. Bridget Moynahan – Rachel
Another actress who has not appeared in major projects before this film is Bridget Moynahan. At that time, the actress was mostly completely devoted to the modeling industry, and she did not lose when she chose to participate in this film. Since then, she has appeared in dozens of films, and has participated in major projects such as Serendipity, two John Wick movies, Lord Of War and I, Robot. During this time, Bridget has been married three times, and is also raising a child from one of her previous husbands.
6. Maria Bello – Lil
Maria played the role of the owner of the Coyote Ugly bar and appeared before us as a tough but fair woman who always keeps her word. She was the one who noticed something ephemeral about Violet that others didn’t, and hired her.
This dazzling blonde has developed a fairly successful career, and this is just not a large number of large-caliber films in which she took part: Lights Out, The Mummy: Tomb of The Emperor, Prisoners (with Jake Gyllenhall), The Secret Window(with Johnny Depp).
In late 2019, Elizabeth married her partner Dominic Krenn, which she announced during this year’s Oscars ceremony.
7. Melanie Lynskey – Gloria
Melanie played the role of Violet’s best friend, the same girl who left her native New Jersey to build her career in new York in Coyote Ugly.
We can’t call this actress unknown at the time when the film was shot, but we can say that she has become a more significant figure in the film industry over time. Melanie has been involved in a lot of projects, but most of all we loved her for her roles in I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore where she got to work with Elija Wood and the movie Hello I Must Be Going.
At the moment, Melanie is one of the key figures in independent cinema, and always shoots with independent Directors. She also stars in TV series, and many of you may know her from Two and A Half Men.
