What Princess Diana’s Aide Can Say About Harry and Meghan?
If you haven’t been following the world news for the past couple of months you may not be aware of the troubles going on within the royal family. Prince Harry (is he really still a prince?) and his wife have given up their royal privileges and titles and then left Britain. A little later the two gave a sensational interview on Oprah in which they told the whole truth about the royal family and their relationship with its members.
This interview had a great effect on Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan, and Harry. Moreover, many viewers drew parallels between Meghan and Princess Diana. Although this has been done many times before, it now looks more realistic.
Harry’s position is very clear. As a loving husband, he would not want his wife to have the same tragic fate as his mother. Therefore, leaving the family that was his most precious treasure for the happiness of his own family was the right (albeit extremely difficult) decision.
Patrick Jephson, Diana’s former aide has made several public statements and in one of them, he said that the situation in the royal family today resembles the one we saw shortly before the princess’ death. But despite what various media are saying, we should treat this as a normal family rift that happens very often in today’s world.
Both situations are repeating themselves. So in 1995, Princess Diana did give that infamous interview with Martin Bashir. In 2021, Harry’s wife went the same way, sharing her secrets and fears with Oprah. There has hardly been much change in the royal family over the past two decades. Patrick Jephson also added that the royal family tried to hide this split and the responsibility lies with their members and not the couple.
At Prince Philip’s funeral, Harry and William didn’t seem to be “best friends”, people got the impression they weren’t talking at all. Of course, Buckingham Palace has not commented on the situation yet. Only time will tell if they can find the strength to end the situation and unite the royal family. Most of all they need each other now, after Prince Philip’s death.
